Zurich – A thousand places to see before you die? Maybe you know this book? I think it is a great reading – not only in the bathroom… One of my passions is also travel, so I love to browse in the book and revive my memories or get new inspiration. Kronenhalle is also named in the book and I totally agree, not only for the food but alsofor the location. The restaurant formerly “Hotel de la Couronne”, reopened as “Kronenhalle” in 1924 and became popular by many people, some of the guests included also Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, James Joyce, Richard Strauss, Max Frisch and Friedrich Dürrenmatt and many more. The atmosphere is great and if you should be bored by your companions talking you can always enjoy looking at the world famous paintings (Chagall, Mirò, Braque, Matisse… ) at the walls. For food I recommend the Wiener Schnitzel with salad, not cheap at all but the portion is big and the quality superb.
Not to forget the Bar just next the restaurant, order a “Sergio” cocktail, the bar man will know…
