Shochu Lounge – Say it again – louder?

London – If you are in London and want to enjoy some Asian food in tapas-style size you should go to Shochu Lounge. The restaurant is located in a cellar under Roka restaurant. But if you plan a romantic dinner or would like to discuss something this might be not the right place as it is quite loud thanks to the house DJ in the middle of the restaurant.

I guess we must have been VERY hungry that there are not more photos of the food….

The Hoxton Hotel – Shoreditch

London – A great place to stay and eat. The rooms are modern, comfortable and a good deal. The hotel is quite centrally located and just in the middle of the booming Shoreditch area (visit also the Old Spitalfields market).

The bar is always very busy and at weekend there is a queue outside.

On our last day we had breakfast in the restaurant which offered delicious American style Eggs Benedict or English beans on toast with bacon – not all choices actually hip-friendly but they serve also yummy freshly squeezed juices to compensate.

Bebek – Mezze in the tram depot

Zurich – A few weeks ago we went with colleague after work to try mezze in the recently opened Bebek. It was quite good food. I really like the open space restarant and the architecture of the newly built complex – unfortunately we were placed in the back of the restaurant – but in return we had the view on the trams that came into the depot…

Bebek belongs to Restaurant and Tea Room Maison Blunt – still one of my favourites for brunch and dinner in Zurich. Actually I don’t know why I have not covered it yet.

Harbour House – Lunch by the sea

Kalk Bay – Today we enjoyed a great and delicious fish and seafood lunch right next to the sea in Kalk Bay, 45mnts drive from Cape Town.

The waves were so big the water splashed on the windows. From the terrace you can watch the sealions playing with each other.

Really worth the way. There is another HH in Cape Town but I guess not at all that spectacular in terms of the view.

Bar and Cinema Houdini

Zurich – great hot dog with spicy or sweet mustard. You can also eat and drink inside the show room.

Dal Nastro – Running lunch, aperitivo and dinner in one restaurant

Zurich – The opening of the restaurant was some month ago and I just had a drink there.

This week I met a friend for lunch in Dal Nastro and I was  amazed about the hearty welcome by Giorgio. For lunch I had the paccheri Bolognese – and I have to admit I did not expect it being so good. After lunch, we received a flyer advertising “Aperitivo Italiano”, where you get little appetizers complimentary with your drinks.

So the next evening I returned, to find out if it was real Italian Aperitivo. Yes it is…and we got hooked by the atmosphere, the food and the nice and attentive authentic service. So in the end we also had dinner and made a reservation for the next Aperitivo evening with our friends.

Pearl Brasserie – A gem in Dublin

Dublin – If you have enough from hamburgers, Irish stew and beer (not Guinness of course…) you should pay a visit to Pearl Brasserie.

We enjoyed the 6 course tasting menu with pairing wine for not more than 110 Euro which we found just fantastic. The food was delicious and the service (mainly French people) adorable and professional. You need a reservation and best do it 1 week in advance.
