The Berkeley hotel – Prêt-à-Portea

London – This place is a wonderful experience for a real traditional but special afternoon tea for ladies who care about fashion and style not only in clothes but also in food.

The elegant 5* Berkeley Hotel is located in the middle of Knightsbridge and houses this beautiful venue one (woman) should not miss while visiting London.

You can enjoy a glass of champagne, make a choice of fine selected teas and bite into the freshly prepared sandwiches, scones, sweets and little surprises that are placed on the beautiful porcelain platters. It is a little pricey – between 51 and 57 GBP – but you can order as much food and tea as you can manage.

Reservation is needed about 2 weeks in advance.

Kronenhalle Bar – The walls know all the secrets

Zurich – This bar is a legend in Zurich. It belongs to the restaurant with the same name, located next door and connected with a door inside. I already wrote about the restaurant in my blog some 12 months ago.

I think they do the best cocktails in Zurich – without knowing all bars in Zurich…I’m sorry. Some cocktails are not listed on the menu but if you ask the bar people they maybe reveal some secrets.

Shochu Lounge – Say it again – louder?

London – If you are in London and want to enjoy some Asian food in tapas-style size you should go to Shochu Lounge. The restaurant is located in a cellar under Roka restaurant. But if you plan a romantic dinner or would like to discuss something this might be not the right place as it is quite loud thanks to the house DJ in the middle of the restaurant.

I guess we must have been VERY hungry that there are not more photos of the food….

Bottega Prelibato – Hoxton calling Italy

London – This cosy Italian restaurant could be place in a side street in an Italian city – you would only think, why do they all speak English? The antipasti, pasta and risotto was excellent and just what we needed after a girls night out and a whole day of power shopping.

The Hoxton Hotel – Shoreditch

London – A great place to stay and eat. The rooms are modern, comfortable and a good deal. The hotel is quite centrally located and just in the middle of the booming Shoreditch area (visit also the Old Spitalfields market).

The bar is always very busy and at weekend there is a queue outside.

On our last day we had breakfast in the restaurant which offered delicious American style Eggs Benedict or English beans on toast with bacon – not all choices actually hip-friendly but they serve also yummy freshly squeezed juices to compensate.

Bebek – Mezze in the tram depot

Zurich – A few weeks ago we went with colleague after work to try mezze in the recently opened Bebek. It was quite good food. I really like the open space restarant and the architecture of the newly built complex – unfortunately we were placed in the back of the restaurant – but in return we had the view on the trams that came into the depot…

Bebek belongs to Restaurant and Tea Room Maison Blunt – still one of my favourites for brunch and dinner in Zurich. Actually I don’t know why I have not covered it yet.

Scomas Sausalito – Fresh fish and seafood with a view

Sausalito, San Francisco – It is actually almost one year ago when we were there. But I came across some pictures from this lovely place and thought this MUST be in my blog – the pictures speak for themselves, right?

Very Yum Yum “Somtam”

As I recently came by it’s reopened as Sweet Basil. I think I have to go and visit soon.

I just wanted a quick and reasonable lunch with a friend. So it came to my mind that always when I was going or coming from “Don Leone’s” at Stauffacher I was walking by this little take-away-style restaurant. So my experience was very delicious for a very good price. I had Green tofu curry with rice and coke for just 20 CHF. Service is very friendly and recipies authentic. Bäckerstrasse 19 in Zurich.
