Katzentisch at Münsterhof – Side table concept

Zurich – There is a new concept for dining out in Zurich: Katzentisch. Have you ever tried to find a table in one of the good restaurants in Zurich on a Friday or Saturday evening? It can be quite difficult some time.

Katzentisch solves your problem and promotes the side tables that are available in town on a daily basis and adds a goodie to a usually special set menu.

I wanted to dine in Münsterhof since some time but tended to forget about its existence. But yesterday, it was announced in the Katzentisch newsletter and so we enjoyed a 4 course menu with wine pairing. The restaurant is just around he corner of Paradeplatz in a historic house from the Middle Ages. There are even some important original “Secco” paintings on the walls. Surrounded by history the rest of the interior is modern and warm as is the staff very friendly and attentive.

If I go again, I would definitively order the Burger…it looked amazing.

Milchbar – Lunch, dinner and hotel

Zurich – Last week there was probably just one sunny day. This was perfect to have lunch on the terrace of MIlchbar: a small restaurant in a cozy patio with a waterspout fountain near Paradeplatz.

I had graved salmon with cucumber soup – very refreshing and light. My colleague chose the pasta which I heard was great too.

The Milchbar even has one room to stay. So if you are a visitor in Zurich and look for a special room, in the heart of Zurich….looks ideal.

Nopi Downstairs – Otto Lenghi

London – Otto Lengi has various restaurants in London but they are definitively not a chain!

Nopi – the Soho-based restaurant has two different areas. The more formal one is on the ground floor and the other informal dining area downstairs. We chose the informal version, seated at two long marble tables where you can overlook the happening in the kitchen. Luckily, we had the two seats the closest you can get to the stoves!

The food concept is small portions to share what I always appreciate as I can taste more. But please do not forget to order one of the cocktails first…I had champagne mixed elderly flower syrup and Saffron…very yummy! The food was great and I would go again next week if I lived in London.

Obstgarten – Reopened

Freienbach – In autumn 2014, Fredi Bloch moved from his former restaurant  “Seeli” to this new location more or less to the other side of the street. The plates contain a lot of local fish are famous and we liked it already in Seeli. By the way, restaurant Seeli just reopened after some building works just 1 week ago and I am excited to visit it as well.

So, if you like fish in a traditional cozy house (frame /timbered house) then you should not wait to visit!

L’Ulivo – Italian pasta and more

Zurich – Actually it is some time ago I went to L’ulivo, but I still remember the good food and really wanted it covered in my blog. The restaurant has moved about a year ago from Tiefenbrunnen closer to  Zurich near Kreuzplatz.

The capo is very friendly and also gives his personal recommendations for the food. As I wanted to try some pasta and could’nt decide which one, he prepared a very individual “Tris di pasta”…very yummy. But also the food of my friends was delicious and comparable with a plate you  get in Italy.

Tizziani – worth the detour

Zurich – This restaurant is a little far any tram or train station. I think this is why I haven’t been here before.

But the detour is worth it anyway. The staff is really friendly and attentive. The food is cooked fresh every day and awarded with 13 points Gault Millau.

The atmosphere in this small restaurant is cozy and taken care to every small detail. In summer there is a small terrace.
