Miracle -s happen in Zurich Seefeld

Zurich – Miraculous food in Zurich? Yes, it is true. We celebrated our dear friends birthday in the small and cosy Italian restaurant. The staff is really friendly and assists you in finding the right food. I chose the truffle tagliolini….mmmmm and the small pizza with wild boar and I did not regret it at all.

Bottega Prelibato – Hoxton calling Italy

London – This cosy Italian restaurant could be place in a side street in an Italian city – you would only think, why do they all speak English? The antipasti, pasta and risotto was excellent and just what we needed after a girls night out and a whole day of power shopping.

La Villa Hotel and Restaurant

Asti – Our friend found this lovely small boutique hotel in a former 17th century villa on top of a hill in Piemonte that allows you a spectacular view.

It offers a cosy lounge with a fire place for colder days as well as a beautiful pool and outside terrace for sunny lunches and dinners under the stars.

One funny thing to mention though…..you have to pay for your food with cash…the English landlord Chris Norton will explain to you 🙂

Ristorante Donatella – Versace style in food!

Oviglio/Asti – This November we went for a long weekend to Piemonte in Italy to enjoy the truffle season. We found out that the season was exceptionally good and prices for the truffles therefore not as high as previous years.

Donatella gives the truffle a pride of place on the menu in this special season of the year. The dishes are selected to give the “Tartufo”-scent priority what also delighted our taste buds.

Truffle Market Alba

Alba – On our weekend trip we visited the truffle market in Alba. The scent was almost making us high and we could not resist to have some pasta with fresh truffle….fantastic!

Dal Nastro – Running lunch, aperitivo and dinner in one restaurant

Zurich – The opening of the restaurant was some month ago and I just had a drink there.

This week I met a friend for lunch in Dal Nastro and I was  amazed about the hearty welcome by Giorgio. For lunch I had the paccheri Bolognese – and I have to admit I did not expect it being so good. After lunch, we received a flyer advertising “Aperitivo Italiano”, where you get little appetizers complimentary with your drinks.

So the next evening I returned, to find out if it was real Italian Aperitivo. Yes it is…and we got hooked by the atmosphere, the food and the nice and attentive authentic service. So in the end we also had dinner and made a reservation for the next Aperitivo evening with our friends.

Madonna! What a good pasta!

Zurich – This week I went for lunch to Madonna – an Italilan restaurant I haven’t been for some time. I ordered the lunch menu with salad and pasta, made with fresh vegetables and a large spoon with crème freche. My colleague had meat filled giant ravioli and was really happy with his choice as well. They also serve meat and fish and it is good value to eat lunch around main station and Bahnhofstrasse area. In the evening it turns also into a bar and club but I haven’t been there until now.

Gaucho – 250 grs Argentinian beef

Zurich – After several years of experience in catering and delivering Argentinian specialties, “Gaucho” opened a restaurant in the heart of Zurich in January 2014.

The interiors are quite cosy having many framed pictures and interesting images on the restaurant walls. The people from Gaucho are very friendly and welcoming any guest.

The cheery Argentinean eatery features juicy char-grilled meats that are infused with Argentinean spices. Puglian (Italian) dishes are served as well.

Unfortunately I wasn’t trained anymore to eat as much meat as in my time when I lived in Buenos Aires. The “camarero” fully understood that I did want to take the precious leftovers home to indulge my little tigers at home (they refused any catfood for two days after that feast).
