Meat Man – Lively and good

Tokyo – A Japanese friend recommended this great small place in Roppongi to us. Although it was a Sunday evening it was full of people, so don’t forget to reserve your table or place at the bar.

You can order your food in tapas sized portions and just eat as much as you can. The food is not too complicated but very good. It can be very loud inside, so maybe not the best choice for a first date or romantic night 😉

Okinawa food at Teyandei

Tokyo – The Shibuya branch of the Teyandei restaurant is a hidden gem for me. We reserved a table on a Friday night and did a nice walk before dinner around vibrant Shibuya. This branch is a “take off shoes” restaurant, so do not wear your oldest socks 😉

The food is inspired from Okinawa (south islands of Japan) and I tasted sea grapes for the first time.

The washroom offers here as often their own slippers.

Sissi – imperial fine dining

Meran Südtirol– The name of the restaurant sounded a bit like a tourist trap at first. But I was taught a lesson.

The restaurant is situated in a historic building, tables are topped with white blankets and traditional silver cutlery. The staff and especially the chef Andrea Fenoglio were very welcoming and helped with the choice of our menu.

Have a look at the gallery with the traditional dishes, newly interpreted. Pizza margherita in the glass and vitello tonnato – not flat on the plate but small turrets – mouthwatering!

The chef also runs a pizzeria in Meran, called “357 tre, cinque, sette” which I will for sure visit during our next trip to Meran: http://trecinquesette.it/

Andrés carne de res – Meaty crazy place on several floors

Bogotà – What helps against altitude sickness? Bogotà city is on 2’640 m above sea level and higher than many resorts in the Swiss alps. My special tip is Aguardiente, Colombian’s most popular drink. It is an anise-flavoured liqueur that works like medicine for the stomach.

We met some friends for dinner at the restaurant “Andrés carne de res DC” which was already recommended to us by several locals and tourists.

We chose the “DC” city branch, as the original place, even bigger one, is about 1 hour by car away.

The food is really good, although you might think the place was built just for the tourists. Every evening, various birthday people and beauty queens are elected with special decorated sashes, who often do not even know about their “luck”. After dinner the place turns into a crazy party place.

Yauatcha – Dim Sum heaven

London – Are you looking for contemporary Cantonese dim sum in London? You will find them in two London branches of the Yauatcha restaurant in Soho and City. We reserved a table at the Soho branch.

The dim sum and all other dishes were just delicious. The price is justified if one thinks of the elaborate preparation of the food and the location in the middle of London. See some of the food in the picture gallery an on their website. I will definitely go again.
