Sausalito, San Francisco – It is actually almost one year ago when we were there. But I came across some pictures from this lovely place and thought this MUST be in my blog – the pictures speak for themselves, right?

The Pot Luck Club!
Cape Town – a MUST and my personal favourite in Cape Town! But book in advance. The food is presented on the menu under the different tastes as Sweet, Bitter, Umami, etc. and portions in a Tapas-style-size. Everything was perfect and staff was not only very friendly but also very good-looking….maybe a job requirement?
PLC is a sister restaurant of the Test Kitchen, the best voted restaurant in Cape Town at the moment.
Harbour House – Lunch by the sea
Kalk Bay – Today we enjoyed a great and delicious fish and seafood lunch right next to the sea in Kalk Bay, 45mnts drive from Cape Town.
The waves were so big the water splashed on the windows. From the terrace you can watch the sealions playing with each other.
Really worth the way. There is another HH in Cape Town but I guess not at all that spectacular in terms of the view.
Auberge de L’ill – Alsace at its best
Illhaeusern near Colmar
This summer, I invited my husband for his round birthday to a short trip to Alsace in France.
During the day we visited Colmar which is such a pretty little city and it looks like it has been all painted from a fairy tale book…
Overnight we stayed in a lovely hotel just about 15 minutes from the Auberge, called Hotel de L’illwald. A really nice place and built in the same typical style the houses are in Colmar (timber framing).
But now to the highlight of the evening. The chef Mr Haeberlin ears three stars in the Michelin guide and the family has a long tradition in this house. The venue is embedded in the countryside and the river Ill flows calm and nicely in front of the garden. People told me, normally there are a lot of swans swimming in there, but I guess it was their day off…
We enjoyed the apéro in the garden area, before we were let to our table. We were placed in a very private bay of the restaurant which made it even more romantic.
I think, this time the pictures need to speak about the food as this would be 5 pages or longer. Of course we had the tasting menu with – I really do not remember – about 8 courses that were absolutely amazingly delicious! The staff of course was also very nice and professional.
So, I recommend to go and try once…but beware of the prices 😉
REAL – Real Spanish food from Galicia
Zurich
About 1 week ago I was in Real for the first time. I love Spanish food and actually I don’t know, why I have never been there before.
I chose fried octopus as a starter. But already when the plate came, I knew i will never going to finish this huge portion. So I asked for a doggy bag for the rest.
As main I had the “Mistkratzerli” a small poulard made in the oven with a lovely crust accompanied by Spanish potatoes and vegetables.
I also asked for the rest to be packed. I already imagined how I would eat it on Sunday and still enjoy it al lot….stupid thing was just that I forgot to take it with me when we left…
So I definitely will go back and finish my food 😉
Las Tapas de Lola – Are we in Spain?
Dublin – As we were walking along Camden and Wexford street we saw a large crowd of people. As we came closer we discovered that most of them were queuing for a restaurant. The scents that reached our nostrils were very tempting. While we were waiting outside the next door pub, we watched the people going in and coming out of this rather small restaurant.
The food we had was great and we felt like in Spain. Actually I thought, I really have to do my next vacation in Spain again!
Just a little hint…if you don’t like garlic – avoid it like the Irish novelist Bram Stoker with his “Dracula”.
The Oar House – at the harbour in Howth
Dublin/Howth – Only 45 minutes by train from Dublin you are at the sea! We were lucky at our arrival with loads of sunshine and wanted to find out, what the fishermen caught in the morning.
We snatched the last table outside of Oar House and ordered half the menu as we were starving. Everything looked great and mouth-watering. After we finished our lunch we could not have been happier and were, as my friend named it “in Seafood heaven”.
Just next to Oar House there are many other restaurants, so you will never have a problem to find a space and local people told us there are ALL good restaurants as the fish could not be fresher.
Pearl Brasserie – A gem in Dublin
Dublin – If you have enough from hamburgers, Irish stew and beer (not Guinness of course…) you should pay a visit to Pearl Brasserie.
We enjoyed the 6 course tasting menu with pairing wine for not more than 110 Euro which we found just fantastic. The food was delicious and the service (mainly French people) adorable and professional. You need a reservation and best do it 1 week in advance.
