Dal Nastro – Running lunch, aperitivo and dinner in one restaurant

Zurich – The opening of the restaurant was some month ago and I just had a drink there.

This week I met a friend for lunch in Dal Nastro and I was  amazed about the hearty welcome by Giorgio. For lunch I had the paccheri Bolognese – and I have to admit I did not expect it being so good. After lunch, we received a flyer advertising “Aperitivo Italiano”, where you get little appetizers complimentary with your drinks.

So the next evening I returned, to find out if it was real Italian Aperitivo. Yes it is…and we got hooked by the atmosphere, the food and the nice and attentive authentic service. So in the end we also had dinner and made a reservation for the next Aperitivo evening with our friends.

Bernerhof – Austria in Zurich

Zurich

I went to the Bernerhof over lunch. The restaurant is pretty and you feel warmly welcome. My risotto with mushrooms was really good but as soon as my neighbour at the next table got his enormous and ridiculously big Wiener Schnitzel – I knew – I have to come again and try it!

REAL – Real Spanish food from Galicia

Zurich

About 1 week ago I was in Real for the first time. I love Spanish food and actually I don’t know, why I have never been there before.

I chose fried octopus as a starter. But already when the plate came, I knew i will never going to finish this huge portion. So I asked for a doggy bag for the rest.

As main I had the “Mistkratzerli” a small poulard made in the oven with a lovely crust accompanied by Spanish potatoes and vegetables.

I also asked for the rest to be packed. I already imagined how I would eat it on Sunday and still enjoy it al lot….stupid thing was just that I forgot to take it with me when we left…

So I definitely will go back and finish my food 😉

Gertrudhof – Cordon Bleu Special

Zurich

Looking for a real good Cordon Bleu? This is the place you should go!

You get the classic in large and extra large and many other styles. The venue itself is – you can call it cozy – but not trendy or chic at all.

George Grill – Looking terrific!

Zurich – A new restaurant in town that is worth waiting a week for a table. I visited George last week with a colleague for lunch. Already the way up to the top floor of the OBER building in the lift promises that there must be something special up there.
The welcome was very warm and friendly and we enjoyed a really nice table at the window as asked for in the reservation.
My salad was huge but not at all less in taste, to be hones one of the best salad I had in a long time in a restaurant. When I saw Tatar on the menu….I knew I had to go for this. I was not disappointed at all. I had the small portion for lunch and struggled to eat it up even though it was so good.
Therefore, I award George with 10 points for food, atmosphere, service, view and can’t wait to go again.

Barfussbar – Barefoot in Zurich

Zurich – What can you do when it’s summer and 35 degrees in Zurich?
You can go to an open air swimming pool that is actually the lake of Limmat, enjoy cool drinks, later in the evening dance and just enjoy the scenery of Zurich’s old town. There is a special summer program for concerts and parties. This recommendation is certainly not for food but if you are hungry, you can always have selected sandwiches and ice cream from Sorbetto “en masse”…

Time(s) for a crispy Wiener Schnitzel!

Zurich – Yesterday I actually wanted to go to an Italian restaurant with a very good friend of mine. But we had to find out that all the Italian and Spanish restaurants were closed due to Easter Holiday.
So we just went to Langstrasse area and asked first at restaurant Josef. This is normally one of my favourite restaurants food-wise but they still have the two times selling the table for one evening. We walked down the street and we both remembered the Times. I was there already about 2 years and had only good memories.
We started with the “Times Special” Drink, a mix of sake, prosecco, lime which was really refreshing. My friend chose the tuna tatar with a passion fruit-orange-chili sauce and I went for the ceviche with pomegranate. Both dishes so tasty we asked the chef to reveal his recipe…what he did.
As I already had the Wiener schnitzel with the pommes alumettes I couldn’t resist it and my friend neither. Can a Wiener schnitzel be too crispy? Definitively one of my favourite although there is not much left of the meat….but the combination just yummy. Dessert was as well just fantastic with a chocolate tart, melting inside with Acai ice-cream. Go indulge yourself!
